For twenty years the Town of Mars Hill has sponsored the Annual Heritage Festival, an event Madison County Residents and folks from surrounding counties look forward to every year.

Vendors marketing an array of arts and crafts, along with many other locally produced products will be ready to greet customers from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, October 1,” says Rod Bowling, Festival Coordinator.  “Local musicians will perform all day on campus.  Food booths, always popular, will offer an array of lunch selections.  Baked goods, candy and drinks are also available for all to enjoy.”

“There are lots of visitors who look forward to visiting their favorite booths,” says vendor Sandy Smith.  “I have people come by my booth to buy my sauces, jellies and herbal products year after year.  In my book, this festival ranks number one and I know I speak for a lot of vendors who have been here since the beginning.  We love it and love the people who have chosen to share the day with us.”

“Vendors work hard all year to prepare for the festival”, says Bowling, “especially since the economy has taken its toll on so many families.  More and more people are looking for activities close to home.  They’re also interested in purchasing items that are locally made.  With over 100 vendors, the festival provides an excellent opportunity to purchase affordable Christmas and birthday gifts.  Pottery, jewelry, handmade scarves and hats, wooden sculptures, painted gourds and local honey are some of the favorite items that will be available.

Darhyl Boone, Mars Hill Town Manager says, “Our town takes great pride in sponsoring the Heritage Festival.  The welcome mat is out for all to share a great experience.  This is a special day for family and friends and one to remember.”
